8 years wonderful years of serving hot fresh food to the community

Sid N Sol’s Chicago Style is more than a food business — it is a story of faith, perseverance, discipline, and partnership.
Sullivan Young, also known as “Solomon,” began this journey in 2018 alongside his first business partner, Rev. Sidney Logwood, with nothing more than a small hot dog cart and a vision. What started with just a few menu items has now grown into a full mobile food trailer serving Chicago-style favorites that customers have come to love throughout Southern Illinois.
Over the years, Solomon’s wife, Jerri Young, became not only his partner in life, but also his business partner. Together, they elevated Sid N Sol’s into something much bigger than they ever imagined. From famous Chicago hot dogs to loaded sandwiches and their well-loved lemon shake-ups — which many customers say are even better than the ones at the fair (smile) — the business has continued to grow through dedication and hard work.
Their journey has not been easy. Through every challenge, Solomon and Jerri have remained grounded in their disciplined lifestyle and their commitment to putting God first. Their faith has helped carry them through difficult moments and long days that many people never see behind the scenes.
People often recognize Solomon from his daily jogs through town, something he says helps keep him focused, disciplined, and mentally strong. Jerri has embraced her role as a true help meet to her husband, supporting the vision and helping bring the business to life each day. Yet Solomon is quick to give Jerri much of the credit, often saying she is the real magic behind the project.
Jerri, on the other hand, believes her husband is nothing short of Superman. She admires the way he works from morning until night without giving up, even during moments when others — including herself — may have felt like quitting. She believes his strength, determination, and endurance are qualities only a man guided by God could possess.
Now entering their eighth year in business, Sid N Sol’s continues to evolve. After serving the Carbondale, Illinois community for years, Solomon and Jerri are now beginning a new chapter in Carterville, Illinois, on property they proudly purchased themselves.
What began as a simple hot dog cart has become a testimony of perseverance, partnership, faith, and vision — and the story of Sid N Sol’s is still being written.
